Simple answers only go so far.
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who works with adults, couples, young adults /TAY, and adolescents.
I specialize in working with those who have experienced complex trauma and dissociation. I have specifically worked to gain skills towards helping people heal from the range of impacts long term trauma can have on an individual's day to day quality of life. I also have experience working with grief, particularly grief as the result of a suicide and spent years running groups specifically for those who have survived the loss of a loved one to suicide.
My approach is eclectic and ranges from relational, to somatic, to nuts-and-bolts skills building, though it is always based on a model of collaboration with the client. I tend to be an active therapist. I also utilize Brainspotting and SSP to help further integrate experiences that are not often touched by basic talk therapy. My goal is always to help you develop your own inner skills to gain more satisfaction from life, and to break patterns that may get between you and where you want yourself to be.
I have experience managing programs that focus on working with individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness such as schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, PTSD, dissociative disorders, bipolar, etc. In much of my community mental health work, I have specifically focused on the age of young adults /TAY (transitional aged youth) between 18 to 25. This age range is a specific developmental stage that is not often considered by therapist and so they often do not do well or drop out of therapy as a result.
In addition, I have managed adult forensics programs that target working with individuals who have had complications with the legal system specifically due to their mental health issues and I have worked in collaboration with the client and the Alameda Behavioral Health Court system to get their criminal records expunged.
